Running towards Fear pt.1

We all struggle with fear

When we have a healthy dose of fear, it protects us from making wrong or harmful choices.

Many times, however, most of us struggle with unhealthy fears and thus make choices and decisions from a place of fear. It is impossible to get rid of fear completely but the best way to achieve our goals amid fear is to confront it, face it and have the courage to move towards it, not away from it.

The further you run from your fears, the bigger it becomes. Conversely, the closer you run towards your fears, the smaller it becomes.

Here is a reason why we should run towards the things that scare us:

To build Resilience

Life is full of good and bad moments, beautiful and ugly, easy and challenging seasons.

In Ecclesiastes 3:1, we read that for everything, there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. The truth is as we progress in life, we will face giants, obstacles and will have to climb tougher mountains. Infact, the closer we are to the summit, the steeper it gets.

Nobody gets out of life without any scars.

When we build the habit of facing our fears and dealing with the uncomfortable, we build the resilience needed to face greater challenges ahead.

I believe that life will always teach us the lessons we need to learn, we can either learn the lesson or repeat the same cycle. When we take the steps to face our fears, we build our confidence and resilience muscles to face life’s toughest challenges.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go" Joshua 1:9
