Christ and Authenticity

Jesus Christ is our perfect example of authenticity.

He was original. He didn’t bend the truth of who he was to please ANYBODY.

He did not seek man’s approval but only God’s. He was just himself.

But here is the thing: He was shamed and rejected. Gosh, if there’s ever been anyone more rejected than He was. In John 1: 10-11, we see that Jesus came to the world, that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

Imagine the rejection. To be rejected by your own.

Yet Christ knew who He was. He knew his identity. He was God’s son, his beloved. In him, God was well pleased.

When we take the healing journey and allow God to heal shame and rejection, we become aware of our identity as children of God.

Children fiercely loved by God, not rejected or shamed but accepted and loved. And the safer we feel in our identity, the easier it will become to show up every day authentically.

Not perfect, not arrogant, perhaps weird, perhaps goofy and broken, yet still perfectly loved and accepted by God.

I encourage you today to open your heart to receive the love and healing that our loving Father provides.

The love that heals the brokenness that causes you to hide in shame.

The love that heals the brokenness that causes you to show up with a mask and empowers you to show up in life as a child boldly.

 A child of God.
